Being ADHD (or so I suspect) has made being a writer something I struggle to make time for. Imagine moving to a new country and trying to focus on anything while learning a new language, culture, and way of life.

The wife and I moved to Costa Rica, with the hopes of improving our lifestyle and focusing on what matters most to us. For me that means putting my writing front and center. I recently completed the rough draft of Lord of the Undead, Book 3 in the Penta Ka Wa Series. We now begin the gauntlet that is editing, proofreading, beta readers, and the million details that go into getting a book to market.

Do the gods even care?

The orcs of Kinthur have been conspiring to circumvent the long-standing Gods’ Covenant. They plot to bring their evil god, Old One-Eye, back to rule Kinthur and dominate or destroy the other races. Ellwyn, a young elven ranger, and her companions stumble upon an ancient prophesy that foretells this event. With only the help of her companions, she must unravel the mystery before it’s too late. They are set on a course that will lead to high magic, monsters, treasures and possible death. Can they stop the orcs in time and at what terrible cost?

This beginning of a new trilogy marks the first in a collaborative writing effort between the creator of Kinthur, Trevor Jones, and April Nia Raine. Set in a time, thousands of years after the original novels, the blood feud between elves and orcs still rages on, but for how long?

Follow the elven ranger Ellwyn from her traumatic origins to her rise as a warrior unlike any other.

These books have just received new cover art and wider circulation through email lists and promotion sites, so I’m hoping to see some serious movement. The audiobook for Rise of a Master is in final production and will be out this summer.

As excited as everyone is for the third book in the series, it’s on hold as I complete That Damn Dragon: Book 1 in the Heroes Series. This is the prequel that explains the origins of the adventurers that appeared in The Dark Gift. You heard right. Deniczar the wizard, Digby the dwarven rogue, Hector the barbarian, Amelia the priestess, and Nalowyn the elven ranger all return. See how they met and joined together in the grandest of adventures.

When I first started writing and telling stories, I didn’t have an ‘end game’. In fact, I didn’t even imagine being published. I wrote because there was a story in me that wanted to be told.

When I first created Kinthur for a game of Dungeons & Dragons, I didn’t expect much more than an interesting setting for the game to take place. As time passed and my games got more complex, eventually people that didn’t play were subjected to hearing stories about the world of Kinthur. Eventually someone pipped up with a “you should write this down and publish.”

I had already written it down, but now the idea of publishing was there and I tried to get a book written. Fast forward twenty years and I finally completed something. A novel, ready to be published. After a year of shopping around, I settled on self publishing, because the world is changing and that’s what was going to get my story out there.

Now what?

Now the book has to be marketed so people will see it and buy it and hopefully read it and enjoy it. And that means signings and readings. Meeting strangers in public and speaking in public, answering questions…it’s an introverts nightmare. But now I’m doing it, still working past my fear of speaking in public. Hello faithful readers and fans. Kinthur.com is back online with a new purpose.  Originally the site was for my players as Kinthur is the setting for our Dungeons and Dragons games.  Now, as that world is being published for all to read about, I’ve rededicated the website to my writings that will be published.  As the site grows, I hope to include not just news of the novels and stories that are published but also to include the stories that entertain and intrigue.
