Hello, fans and readers!
It’s always great when I think of something to say and get out the old blog post. Whether you follow on Kinthur.com, Patreon, or whatever social media platform I remembered to use, I love reaching out (in the hopes that someone, somewhere, finally responds to these).
The writing journey began with Penta Ka Wa, the story of a good man forced to become a vampire. I loved taking an elderly protagonist who had lived a good life and shoving evil into him, then watching his centuries-long battle play out. Those who have been paying attention know that Penta was a historical character I created for my Dungeons & Dragons game way back in 1991 (that was 2nd edition for any that cares).
When I turned that bit of flavor text into an actual book, something amazing happened. As is the case with all good stories, new characters walked onto the page and introduced themselves. These became the core members of an adventuring group, and before long, they were demanding an origin story of their own.
That is where That Damn Dragon! came from.
It’s been six years since their debut book, and I’m happy to say I finally got around to continuing their story. The upcoming sequel, Hats Off to Chaos, Book 2 of the Adventurer series, is currently in final edits and launches September 22nd.
Much like their sudden appearance in The Dark Gift, the group’s latest adventure made room for another character to show up: the wizard Ohlmeer of the Golden Guild of Ysnjsham. You may remember Ohlmeer from the Knights of Airygon series
I was very excited by this particular occurrence. As an author, I’m often just as surprised by what happens as the readers are. The presence of Ohlmeer (details of which will be explained in the books) ties all three series together.
You might say he’s the Kevin Bacon of Kinthur (oh, that’s a good line; I should make a t-shirt).
Little easter eggs like this are one of the things I love about writing a connected world. And they don’t happen in a vacuum, either. April’s contributions with the Knights of Airygon series have been nothing short of exceptional, and it’s been a lot of fun watching these stories begin to overlap.
So if you’re keeping track of how all these characters and stories tie together, don’t miss out on Hats Off to Chaos.
There may be a few more familiar faces waiting for you.
Stay tuned for the next update, and until then,
Keep Reading
